A Major Retooling
A major retooling for the J.H. Carr and Sons Seattle Plant, “the planning is complete and the jobs begun” said Jerry Carr VP Marketing and General Manager. Plans include a total retooling and a new floor space plan at our Seattle production headquarters.
J.H. Carr’s new equipment list includes the following items: Anderson America’s CNC ANDI Router with a Pre-Vac Vacuum system, Stiles Homag horizontal beam saw, Altendorf sliding table saw, Brandt edge banding system, and an Omga double end miter saw system. The project started mid February and is scheduled for completion the 3rd week of April, “ The timing is prefect for this change over and we're right on schedule” said VP Sales Wayne Mulliner.
All of the items added point to increased production speed, improved tolerances and reducing labor cost, which Jim Carr states will “ give our clients a better product at lower cost.”
The Carrs have future plans to add a wood waste grinding system to further reduce operational cost later during the 2002 year.
Jerry and Jim Carr have been planning this move the past year and will implement a “Just In Time” production system to reduce inventory and increase floor space for the 63 year old family business. J.H. Carr primarily produces furniture for the Hospitality industry with world wide sales, the Carrs will gain a competitive edge in an expanding market.
