Our Mission

The J H Carr family

Founded in 1938 by Jim and Louise Carr, J H Carr has demonstrated itself as a leader in the commercial furnishings industry, becoming a dominant player in Europe and the United States. Leveraging this experience, J H Carr has developed a unique array of services not offered by any other player in our market. With an unmatched commitment to customers and the unparalleled demand placed on each product, the J H Carr brand has become the industry standard.

In 1938, J H Carr was little more than a Cabinet shop founded by Jim and Louise Carr. After years of perfecting their products, Jim and Louise began to grow their small shop into a thriving business, and eventually the dominant player in the Northwest.  Jim and Louise believed it was important to build a relationship with clients because they recognized the complexities of their product.

Commercial clients were J H Carr's primary customer. They were typically experts in their industry, however they knew little about furniture, or the whole assortment of laws and regulations regarding proper seating. Sadly, many commercial enterprises were struggling because they knew little about maximizing seating, and their customers were not comfortable with ad hoc seating arrangements. These businesses that depended on proper seating could not compete with organizations that adopted a more modern approach.

For example, restaurant patrons often associate comfort with the overall quality of a restaurant, and even when customers are comfortable, the question is, is the organization making a profit? Proper seating and seating arrangements are key ingredients to the success of many such organizations, aligning the needs of the enterprise and the needs of the enterprise's customer.  J H Carr has developed an array of products and services that solved these problems.  What really differentiates J H Carr is our ability to implement successfully these principles, which is why we are so successful in our industry.
As J H Carr grew, so did its product line  Eventually the lines encompassed booths, chairs, stools, and tables.  Today J H Carr, a second and third generation business, has taken these fundamentals and still true to form has continued to innovate.  J H Carr has developed a range of innovations including cad designed floor plans and machine driven manufacturing.  With the care of the finest wood workers in the world, we put together the very best products in our industry at the lowest cost. By continually innovating we have lowered our costs, and passed our saving onto the customer, never compromising quality. At J H Carr, we are also strongly committed to the environment and continually work to reduce waste in any form.
